Biography
Dr Werntz grew up outside Philadelphia, and has been living and practicing in Morgantown, WV since 1997.
After graduating from Drexel University, he worked 5 years in the compressed gas industry before attending the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, in Kirksville, Missouri.
Post-graduate education included an Osteopathic rotating internship at the Community General Osteopathic Hospital in Harrisburg, PA, followed by Internal Medicine and Occupational Medicine Residencies at West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV. He earned a Masters of Public Health at WVU.
His practice started with 16 years of Occupational Medicine at West Virginia University and he has been in the private practice of Occupational Medicine since 2018. In addition to this practice, Dr. Werntz also does Federal Black Lung Exams at Cabin Creek Health near Charleston, WV, and is a Senior Consultant at NIOSH in Morgantown, WV.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Werntz was Program Director of an Occupational Medicine Residency program and served nationally on the Preventive Medicine Residency Review Committee. He remains a frequent lecturer in all aspects of Occupational Medicine, and serves as Course Director for the Commercial Driver Medical Examiner course of the American Osteopathic College of Occupational and Preventive Medicine.
